So trying to track down who sold the clock doesn't necessarily answer all the questions. If there are any case marks, they may help in dating the clock, but are probably not helpful in knowing who retailed it.Īt the date that this clock was made, mid to late 1800s, the clock industry in France was split into specialists, so the rough movement would be made in one of the factories outside Paris, the movement would be finished by someone who bought in the springs, clicks etc from other specialists, the hands from somewhere else etc. Any marks on the case would likely be for the brass foundry, or the designer of the mould from which the parts were cast, rather than the retailer of the clock. It might be worth investigating the name on the back of the dial more - sometimes these names are for the artisan, but sometimes the artisan put the name of the clock maker on the back of the dial so that they knew who had ordered the parts and who would be picking them up.

Would be really cool to know anything about the clock because it has been eating at me. Main thing I want to know is, who made it and how old is it. It is my understanding there would be the clock case maker, the movement maker, the porcelain maker, and the porcelain artist. The top of the cup up top has a brass lid, If I unscrew the flower and take the lid off, underneath the lid is the letter M with kind of a line crescent. Also removed one of the side bottom porcelain plates which you can see the writing there on the other Plate the is an M embossed into the porcelain, I may have seen the mark on Kovels but they want too much money to join and find out 100% sure but the lines curve the same on the right side of the M. I removed the front Porcelain dial plate which can see in the picture and it says 67 and Veral 3c? Not sure if 1867 is the year it was made. I removed everything except the plates that hold gears in place, not doing that because I know it would be a nightmare. I believe the maker of the movement may be hidden inside the clock somewhere I can’t see. On the back plate there is a number 5093 or 5095 and the number 11 which I assume is the pendulum length. I have seen pictures and I do believe this to be an Antoine-Gabriel Brocot count wheel design. I understand that just because it says Brocot does not mean it was made by one of the Brocot's but only Brocot is the Patent holder. I had to take the clock of the case to see the Movement maker and it says Brocot and STE S.G.D.G which yeah I know what that means now. Also a persons name Veral 3c (I think), Bernard I (think), and Verax (I think). There seems to be places on the clock that say M or 3M. Lots of rubies on it I think, some are missing I can tell. I believe this is a Sevres clock, but maybe I am wrong. There markings on the clock but I can find a match to anything on google. I've pages deep on google for info and pictures that matched.
